Vanguard Server Merges

Well, it looks like Vanguard is merging their servers, and how they’re doing it is now out for the community to see. I would pretend that I was surprised that they were going down to so few servers, but honestly I’m not. I currently play Vanguard – and I quite enjoy it at that – but the game has had some nasty population issues of late, regretfully. It’s a shame really.

If nothing else, at least this will lead the game into having a stronger player-to-server ratio, which the game so desperately needs. This also means that it’ll likely be quite a bit more enjoyable for players, as they’ll have an easier time grouping up together.

As a social player, this is a major plus for me. Although I play on Florendyl, which may not get merged – go figure. There’s good reason for that though, it is the only roleplaying server and merging it could be an issue. I do like that SOE is asking for the players to make that call too – and I’m very pleased to see that they seemed to have taken a lot of the community’s ideas on how to do the merger into account.

That’s good practice, I do believe. Listen to the community and show that you’re listening – good things can come from it.

The only major loss: the team PvP ruleset is gone. I imagine some people won’t be to pleased at that.
