It appears I get to bring up politics again. So, Obama has begun appointing people to various positions for his upcoming time in the White House. A few of these positions have certainly caught my eye, as well as that of The Escapist . It appears that Obama has appointed a few people to head his FCC Transition Team who are strong advocates of Net Neutrality, and as an added bonus, gamers with plenty of experience and respect for virtual worlds.

Now, I’m a supporter of Net Neutrality myself. I believe it is one of the most important and essential aspects of the Internet. It ensures that there is not a high barrier of entry to become a content provider and it does an awful lot to keep information free and available – one of the most important things for an advancing civilization. To lose it would be a dire loss to our ability to advance as a society. Well, I think so anyway. Of course, along with that, I also find virtual worlds to be highly interesting as well. It appears that one of Obama’s appointees, Kevin Werbach, also believes that virtual worlds a great deal of possibilities for the future of software development. Needless to say, I find the idea rather fascinating and I’ll be interested to see how issues such as these will be handled in the future.

Here’s hoping for the best.
