GamePolitics has an article up stating that an FCC commissioner has claimed that “one of the top reasons for college drop-outs in the U.S. is online gaming addiction – such as World of Warcraft – which is played by 11 million individuals worldwide.” Obviously this seems to be causing a fair amount of controversy (which isn’t surprising over at GamePolitics, to be fair), though I have to admit, I’ve known a few people who played WoW get pretty seriously hurt by spending far too much time in WoW – including a few drop outs.

Of course, they’re also the same people  that would have gotten ‘addicted’ to something else and dropped out too.
