New ASUS Eee Boxes with HDMI
Asus has announced a few new Eee Boxes that will be hitting the shelves in the near future. The Eee Boxes, if you aren’t aware, are ASUS’s desktop version of the eeePC – tinsy and cheap. The latest once that they’ve announced also have HDMI ports, allowing them to display full 1080p quality video to a nice HDTV you may have laying around. Given that I currently have a Playstation 3, my interest in this box is actually pretty minimal, but seeing devices like this are certainly pretty neat in my mind.
Still, with the 1.6ghz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 256MB graphics card, 160GB of HDD storage, and a handy remote control, I could see plenty of people happily picking up something like this to enance their home media center. Heck, if this thing had a DvD and/or Bluray player hooked up to it it would make a great, affordable little media machine. My only regret? It doesn’t seem to have a TvTuner, which would make it filled with all kinds of win.
