While browsing through news today, I stumbled across this interesting tidbit found over at Ars Technica. Apparently Jimmy Fallon, who will be taking over Late Night from Conan O’Brien, has stated that he plans to feature video game coverage on his show, in a similar way that movies and music are normally covered. He has stated the mainstream growth of gaming, as well as the high amount of revenue drawn in by the game industry, as reasons for this move. Given that Fallon was spotted at CES a few months back, I’m sure his own geekish leanings have led to this as well.

Regardless of the reason, it is certainly positive to see this move, in my opinion. It really does show just how mainstream gaming is getting and this could help lend a bit more credibility to gaming as a “real” medium. I do hope that the new segments will go over well with the Late Night crowd. I know I’ll be tuning in to take a peek and see how it goes.
