I agree, it is appropriate when you are using a friend's, company's, or building's computer/network; your blog should have been more focused on that issue than cloud programming. For the regular, once-in-a-blue-moon user, Meebo's browser friendly, advanced programming seems like a big deal, however, it really hasn't changed since 2008. There are many options nowadays for social networking on a browser, and Meebo sure isn't a lack of one...but considering that its' users are giving their private information for just about every IM program out there, I would feel more comfortable with atLEAST an HTTPS server (especially now that Meebo only has one global login on their main page meebo.com). On top of the lack of security, as an experienced, avid user, I have noticed very little support from the Meebo staff. The staff claims they are solving problems every week, adding features, and recruiting interns keen on advancing the project that is Meebo. However, Meebo has crippled its' chatrooms, have a reputation for browser lag, and functions periodically fail even on buddy-to-buddy chat. If you are still reading, you are probably wondering why I am still an avid user of Meebo? My answer is simple; I have met very cool, and some dear, people who use the Meebo chatrooms frequently. To keep in touch, I have added many of them on facebook, AIM, etc. However, I am crying out to Meebo employees...listen to your users. This is my angry fist shaking at you, and others will follow! In the future, there will be hundred of other websites like meebo.com claiming they are the best, their advertisement revenue keeps the site free, and they will maintain and update frequently. I'll be the first one to hop on that train, but it better not be an Acela and not an MTA (sorry, a little tri-state humor). Take care, and thankyou for reading. I do know that it stores some history, but does it actually store all of your conversation history forever? That might be useful, and I could see that giving some reason to use it over another client. So it cannot be compared to a desktop client which does this on a single PC. It is vastly superior for this reason, so I cannot agree with your assessment.
